I went looking for the Common bubble snail (Akera bullata) at the Bergse Diepsluis. I am anything but a good underwater sniffer dog, but with the second attempt and good directions (thanks) I found nine and many more egg strings from the animal. I collected two of them to take photo’s of at home. It is a special animal to observe. It looks a bit bulky, but it can vary its shape quite a bit. And then that shell that 'hangs' on it. Click here for photo’s at MicksMarineLife.
It crawls incredibly slowly and doesn't seem to attach itself to the surface like 'normal' nudibranchs. In my aquarium they did not hide in the sand. They did lay a few egg strands, more about that in a next post. They have now returned to their original location.
