I set aside the egg strings that the two collected Common bubble snails (Akera bullata) had deposited in my aquarium - see Simply put 2 - in an aerated bucket. After three weeks, the egg strings had virtually disappeared. So that hadn't yielded anything, I thought. Until I looked really closely and discovered hundreds of tiny larvae swimming around. About a quarter of a millimeter small, easily overlooked.
The shells are still very large in proportion, just like the eyes. They look funny. Some seem to be wearing diving goggles. A new 'Nemo' or 'SpongeBob'?
You can find more photos of the larvae and the parent animals on MicksMarineLife.
